It is often necessary to check plants during the dark period, maybe to foliar feed before your lights come on, or just to fix a problem. Illuminating plants during the dark cycle will cause growth problems, and interfere with plant photoperiod. As most plants do not respond to the green portion of the light spectrum, it is ok to use green lights to illuminate plants during the dark cycle.
