Rockwool

Rockwool

Rockwool, sometimes called stone wool or mineral wool, is the most commonly used medium in commercial hydroponics. It is also perfect for smaller growers who can benefit from its many advantages. It is relatively easy to set up and use but be careful not to over water as they can quickly become saturated.
Rockwool is available in a range of sizes from small propagation cubes to larger slabs.
Rockwool is made by heating basaltic rock and spinning it into thin fibres which are then air cooled. Although Rockwool is a man-made substrate, it is primarily made from rock and considered by many to be a natural product.
Grodan has dominated the market world-wide and is favoured brand used by large and small hydroponic growers.
