SMSCom Twin Fan Speed Controller

Controlling the environment in your grow room is on often biggest challenges an indoor grower will face. To give plants the best possible chance of producing a high yield, conditions need to be controlled and maintained at optimal levels. Any stale Co2 depleted air must be removed and replaced with fresh Co2 rich air, temperature and humidity must also be controlled and kept at optimal levels.

Using a thermostatic fan speed controller will make this job easier to manage.

The SMSCom Twin Fan Speed controller is used to control grow room extraction systems with a maximum current of 4.5 Amps or 7Amps. The twin controller will measure grow room temperature accurately then adjust an intake and exhaust fan speed to maintain this temperature. Simply plug the intake and an outtake fan into the appropriately labelled sockets on the front of the controller, and then set the required room temperature on the temperature dial. Station the temperature sensor probe in a location where it can get an accurate reading, the centre of the grow room at plant canopy height is usually a good place.

Whenever the temperature levels rise above the pre- set level, the SMSCom twin controller automatically increases fan speeds to cool the grow room. There is also a “Max fan speed” and “Min fan speed” dial. The Min fan speed dial is to set the lowest fan speed required to create adequate air exchange in the grow room. The Max fan speed is used when your fan is larger than needed for the size of the grow room, you may not want fans to run at full speed – using the maximum fan speed dial will reduce the top speed that fans reach. The Twin Controller requires about 5 minutes to scan the grow room and make an evaluation for the gradual increase or decrease of your fans. In the course of a cycle, it will automatically find the appropriate constant capacity of the fans to maintain programmed temperature.

Note- Digital fan speed controllers like the SMSCom Twin Fan Speed Controller are a cost effective way to control grow room fans, the drawback to using this type of controller is that fans may make a humming sound.

This is because they use pulse width modulation to regulate fan speed, basically switching fans on and off super fast which controls their overall output speed. If noise is a problem, then we highly recommend SMScom Hybrid Fan Speed Controllers, which run completely silent, to do this they use heavyweight transformers to regulate the power supplied to fans, controlling fan speed smoothly and silently.
